There are many reasons we chose Anna Maria as our location and Bateman’s as our home. The pristine beaches, swimming in the clear blue sea, manatees, dolphins, watching amazing sunsets, the laid-back ‘no news, no shoes’ vibe, an array of great restaurants, warm weather and sunshine - as well as the ability just to relax on the balcony and watch the world go by, or chill by the pool. These are all things we hope every guest will experience during their stay.
My mother was a ‘fishing widow’ - my father spent as much of his spare time as he could fishing. It was his passion and it inevitably infected me too from a young age. And so all the opportunities to fish on Anna Maria were a big additional benefit to the above list.
Whether you are a first-timer, an enthusiastic amateur or an experienced angler, we hope that what you read here inspires you to do some fishing during your stay, in addition to enjoying all the other family memories you’ll create....

PS. The above photo is Gladys, our British Bulldog, on a rare visit in 2019. While we love dogs, Bateman’s has a super strict ‘no pets’ policy, for the benefit of future guests. But kids are very welcome! Bateman’s is exclusively managed by Once Upon a Beach, and is proud to hold 5 star status (“exceptional”) on VRBO.

“This beautiful home has everything you could ever need. It is gorgeous and looks like it should be in a magazine. The four bedrooms are huge and my teenagers appreciated having their own space as well as bathroom. The beds are comfy and there are tons of extra blankets. There are plenty of regular towels, pool towels and beach towels. The location is perfect and we were able to walk to the pier, Bean Point or Pine Avenue for an ice cream break. The garage is fully stocked with everything you need for beach as well as fishing gear. My daughter even caught a 26" fish off the dock in back of the house! We can't wait to book our next trip to Anna Maria Island!!”

WE’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU
Send us your pictures of any fish caught - no matter how big or small - from the dock at Bateman’s, on the beaches or at the piers so that we can include them on our website. Other guests will enjoy them, and you get the bragging rights! Email them to us, and we’ll upload them within 24 hours - maybe even while you’re still at the home! We will also include a selection each time we reprint the Fishing at Bateman’s hard cover book which is kept at the home for guests.
